Leadership Through the Self-Fulfilling Prophecy:
The theory behind the self-fulfilling prophecy is that someone's actions can be guided by someone else's expectations or beliefs about them. This presentation is about how the self-fulfilling prophecy works, and how a leader or manager can apply it to their employees or team members in a positive way.
Amy Morgan is the founder and Executive Training Director of Academy Hour (www.academyhour.com), a training provider offering mental health & leadership courses to law enforcement, emergency response teams and corporations. She is pursuing a Doctorate of Education (Global Training & Development) degree, has earned a Master's degree in Counseling, and holds a Bachelor's of Science in Behavioral Sciences. She previously served as the Training Officer for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, and as an Instructional Systems Designer and Trainer for the Federal Aviation Administration. Additionally, she currently serves as the corporate Training Manager for Washington DC-based Changeis, Inc., a federal contract services provider.
Ms. Morgan has published a series of therapy resource workbooks & training materials. She serves as a member of the International Public Safety Association's Mental Health Committee, and as a subject matter expert and presenter of leadership & mental health training sessions for the International Public Safety Association and the Justice Clearinghouse. Ms. Morgan also serves as a curriculum developer and instructor of mental health courses for the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) in Oklahoma. Ms. Morgan is a certified trainer for Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), and is trained as a QPR (Question Persuade Refer) trainer as well as a Crisis Prevention Institute Non-Violent Physical Crisis Intervention trainer. Additionally, she is Oklahoma Supreme Court certified as a civil mediator, and she has achieved Mensa membership status.
The ATD core competency model redefines the skills and knowledge required for talent development professionals to be successful now and in the future.
